I would think so. Depends on the pictures. People spend hours a day searching Google/Yahoo “images” and other search engines.
No not really.
To rank high with the big search engines, especially Google, you need to have good off page optimization. A big part of off page optimization means having other high ranking pages having a link to your site. That is VERY important. Of course you need to do your on page search engine optimization techniques as well. This is done with the right keywords and page links throughout your site just to name a few.
