Why Top Rank does not allow the military to obtain their fights?

get rank
Samuel B asked:

Top Rank has an obvious boycott to the US Military. During the recent year troops overseas, have not been able to see any of the Top Rank events, and this weeks fight of Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Paquiao, is no different. There are thousands of boxing fans in the US Military that all they have is American Forces Network (AFN) and they count on what shown there.

Also I find quite hipocrital that Top Rank is sponsor by the US Army and the National Guard, and does not provide the fights to the troops.

I think because it may not sell as much as Top Rank desires. They want to stick to HBO whom they signed a contract otherwise risk a lawsuit if they provide the fight to an unauthorized network.

You are definitely right bro, its a shame what boxing has become. All the payperview stuff when before you can actually watch the fights in regular cable! I wish the American troops can watch the fights somehow. God bless our troops! :-)

Bob Arum is a greed person. I’m sure there would be a legal way for AFN to provide this fight in conjunction with HBO so HBO coiuld be a part of providing this huge global fights to our soldiers.Arum, the lawyer, would know how to get it done legally too. I bet he doesnt want to give it to them for free though…jerk

That’s disgusting if it’s true. The cost of broadcasting abroad should be subsidized by Top Rank.
