It’s a huge deal if you are affiliated with either of those schools. The biggest deal. Enormous.
I don’t know how much the rest of the world cares, though, as neither school is really renowned for their football programs.
Ohio State vs. Michigan
Alabama vs. Auburn
Georgia vs. Florida
Texas vs. Oklahoma
USC vs. UCLA
Harvard/Yale isn’t even on the radar.
Harvard is the oldest college in the nation, even older than the United States. The Harvard-Yale rivalry is important largely because of its historic nature.
It’s a shame that the Ivy League has gone to a place that the majority of fans don’t care about. Historically, Harvard and Yale and Army and Navy should be #1 and #1A….But it’s no longer that way in modern times. The only one I would add to the one’s listed is USC – Notre Dame.
But today it’s probably:
Ohio St – Mich.
Tex -Ok
Ala. – Aub
USC – UCLA
and then a tie for 5 with Fla St. – Miami, Tex – Tex A&M, Fla – Georgia,
My ranking of college rivalries would be
OSU Michigan number 1, but I am an OSU fan, so take it for what it’s worth.
2. Alabama/Auburn
3. USC Notre Dame.
4. Oklahoma Texas. I might have this one higher, but the idiots in the big 12 ruined Oklahoma Nebraska, and I am still bitter.
5. Georgia Florida
6 Army Navy
I don’t know if I would have Harvard Yale on the list, because I wouldn’t watch the game if it were on. I understand the history, but I couldn’t tell you who won each year.
Now some of these would not be the best games to watch but as far as college football rivalries go this would be my top 5
1. ALABAMA VS AUBURN (IRON BOWL)
2. ARMY VS NAVY (THE MILITARY BOWL)
3. The red river shootout TEXAS VS OKLAHOMA
4. HARVARD VS YALE
5. MICHIGAN VS OHIO STATE
USC VS UCLA IS OVERRATED BUT WOULD BE IN THE TOP 10
