Rephrase your question, it does not make sense. A squadron commander is at least a Colonel.

That all depends on the size of the outfit. I had a squadron commander who was a captain overseas. But back in the states it was a colonel.

I have over 500 members in my Security Forces squadron, and a Major is head over all of us. Second in line is a Captain. But as far as commanders, depending on who gets assigned and how high speed he is.

A squadron commander will usually be a Captain up to a Lt. Colonel, or O-3 to O-5. Depends on the size of the squadron. NCO’s may run the flights which are like the different shifts, or squads. And squadron sizes will vary by bases, ours has about 132 members, but we are on the small side. Most will have a few hundred or so.

Generally, in the air force, a squadron is commanded by a LtCol (O-5) or Major that is a LtCol (Sel). There are some exception as at smaller installations. A flight commander is usually a 1LT or Capt. Dircetor of Ops will be Major. The Group commander will be a Colonel (O-6). It has been quite a few years since I have seen an O-6 squadron commander.

It’s an officer…usually a Lieutennant Colonel. They can be a Major or a full bird Colonel depending on the squadron. Typically a normal security forces squadron has around 4 to 5 hundred Airmen assigned.

Usually a Major or a Lt Colonel.

If it is a larger Squadron, it will be a Lt Colonel.

I have never seen a Colonel commanding a Squadron, other than a Flight Squadron.

Usually Wings are Commanded by Colonels, The DCM is a Colonel.

A Squadron will have from 300 to 1,000 airmen assigned.

It just depends on what kind of Squadron and where its based at.

But I have seen a large squadron, commanded by a Captain before for an extended period of time. While waiting for a Lt Colonel to be assigned.

The 43rd MMS with 800 airmen was commanded by a Captain for 6 months before the new Lt Colonel was assigned.

Yes, the Captain made Major on the 10% list.
