I am a 9th grader writing a story for a second grader where the Queen (which is the second grader i’m writing for) gives her best friend, Madelyn, a high social ranking. I am not sure what this ranking is so could someone please tell me?

    Princess

Tell Princess Diana that she wasn’t bestowed the Title of Princess –

I don’t agree with “princess” – a queen couldn’t grant that title. One is either born a princess or marries a prince; it’s not something that’s just handed out.

I think duchess would be the next highest ranking … or maybe marquess?

The highest ranking title would be a Duchess. Dukes and Duchesses are the highest peers in the kingdom.

    Nancy Pelosi.

If we are talking England, right now it is the Duchess of Cornwall, because she is married to the Prince of Wales so that makes her next in line to be their queen.

She could be made a Princess or even a Queen herself if the Queen in your story arranged a marriage between Madelyn and a foreign Prince or King.

The highest social ranking that a woman could be given for being a friend would probably be Lady. As she would be a Lady in waiting.

Titles such as Princess or Duchess are received from Marrying a Duke or Prince, being a lady in waiting she would be likely to meet someone of such high raking in court.
