    There is none.
    No score by country is kept at the Olympics.
    The medal count was initiated by the press back in the cold war days to keep track of how the U.S. was doing against the U.S.S.R. and later East Germany. That means that it’s whatever the newpaper or TV network decides that it is.

    The method used by the media is:

    Golds
    (if same number of golds) Silvers
    (if same number of silvers) Bronzes
    (if same number of bronzes) Alphabetical order
