if you enlist: Marines will give you E2, Army E3 or E4 and everybody else E3.

if you are accepted as an officer( and just having a degree does NOT Mean that you will be offered a commission): O1 for all Branches.

You need to be an officer, but they might take you for a sucker and tell you or convince you to join as an Enlisted. No matter what don’t do that as getting out of the Enlisted side is so hard.

I have a Bachelor’s degree as well and was approved for ROTC until I decided to pursue OCS instead. It is possible and allowed and you are only required to attend two years of ROTC, during which you can obtain a Master’s or second Bachelorette degree; it doesn’t really matter just as long as you are a full time student.

I will enter the National Guard as an E-4 and go through the OCS process for a year. I believe the “bonus” is $10,000, with a $20,000 college loan repayment option.

The only catch is that you need to receive a 110 on the ASVAB and schedule a visit to MEPS. ROTC, on the other hand, waives this requirement.

You aren’t required to be enlisted first to become an officer. For the most part individuals who have no prior experience go through either an Academy or an ROTC program.

Academy admissions are very limited and I’m not even sure ROTC is possible since you already have a degree. Being a full time student is a requirement to be a contracted cadet. You would probably have to start a second degree in that case (certainly another 4 years for the Academy). There are ways of getting a direct commission however. You need to get in touch with an officer recruiter from the branch of your choice (make sure to specify that you want to go officer!)

You can apply for a commission from the President on the strength of your bachelor’s degree. However, as a retired Navy officer, I would advise you to give some extra attention to sentence construction and grammar.

You would start out as an E-2 – E-4 depending on your MOS. Talk to your local recruiter about that. I’m not certain. You would get a bonus in pay though for being a college grad. Being commissioned as an officer requires 4 years of college ROTC, 4 years of the respective branch’s academy, or OCS. Enlisted, or Es, cannot become an officer unless they attend an officer training course such as the ones mentioned above though (more options available if you are already enlisted). So, you either start out as 0-1 (2nd LT), through an officer training program (if you want to be an officer, go OCS – it’s like officer boot camp, but you are screened and can be kicked out for not keeping up or not showing discipline, respect, etc, whereas you can’t in BCT unless you are seriously injured or commit a crime), OR you enlist and are given the rank of E-2 – E-4 (talk with your recruiter about that).

You don’t have to work your way through the enlisted side of the house to become an officer. You get more respect being enlisted first, but it really doesn’t matter in the long run.

There is obviously a lot more to it then just having a B.S. degree, so good luck.

You would have to go to officer school or ROTC to become an officer. You can sign up to be enlisted and start out as E-4 in the army (I believe it might be E-3 in some other branches of service).

You don’t have to be enlisted to be an officer (although I think that would have actually been a good idea honestly). If you do go enlisted, you would have to use the green-to-gold program to become an officer.
