   Any link from anywhere cannot harm your site as long as you don’t link back. If you link back to a bad site, that is another story and can harm you.

   Bad sites or inferior sites linking to you are not counted by search engines. They are not harmful, just useless links.

   If search engines mind bad sites linking to your site then we would have a scenario where competitors will create bad links for each other.

   Sometimes scammers will promise to get you to page 1. You may indeed get to page 1 easily but for a keyword that won’t make you money. If they show you a site on page 1, look at the keyword used. It may have nothing to do with the site.

   Using a keyword not being used by any other would naturally land a site to page 1, and maybe alone on page 1.
