Is there is any official ranking of the olympics?

Now China have more golden medals while america holds more total medals. I found some web sites(mostly american) state that USA leads the ranking of the olympics. Some says that China does. Can any one tell me if i can find an official ranking to end my confusion.

    official ranking counts only gold. So China is winning right now.

    There is no official count….

    The media counts the medals. And they all do it differently. Most count only golds but some count total medals. Some use a point system.

    Everyone listen to Jennifer! There is no official count. Who has the most gold medal , most overall medals, who cares. There is no prize for the most gold medals and there is no prize for the most overall medals. So SHUT UP, this is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Crying about something that means absolutely nothing.
