Here is the 2008 Military Pay Chart.

Across the board, everyone of the same rank and time in service, regardless of the branch of service, makes the same base pay.
A new O-1 would make 2,555.70 in base pay.
If they live off base they would be entitled to Housing Allowance but that depends on where you’re stationed.

It’s standard throughout all the services. All things being equal a Navy Lieutenant (O3) makes EXACTLY the same base pay as a USMC, USAF or USA Captain. Differences are in allowances and any incentive pays like flight pay, jump/HALO pay, command pay etc.
    O3 w/ 4 years i.e. a new one: 4500/month roughly
    O2 w/ 2 years, 3500/month roughly

This link shows all the paycharts for FY08 on the Navy side.

A LT in the Navy is an O-3 about $5000 a month base pay, but you also get Housing allowance which is not taxable and that rate varies depending on where you are stationed. You also get COMRATS (food) and that is about 293 a month(also not taxable)

A 1st LT in the Marines is an O-2, about $1000 dollars less a month (roughly)

Check out the link, it will give you an idea.

DH is an O3e with 12 years in. he brings home about $3800 every two weeks. that includes all pays and allowance as well as all the deductions.
