How do I get a two star ranking on Mariokart cups?

I have done it a couple of times and I just won one of the cups by winning EVERY race – but still only got a one star ranking – what does it take into consideration?

    it is down to your OVERALL performance in all the races. Therefore if you start in first position and stay in first position throughout each race, you will get a better score.

    If you’re always trailing in 6th or 7th place but get a bullet or something that lets you win in the last few seconds of the race that is not as good a performance as being 1st throughout the race.
