How come the seed and rank for tennis players aren’t the same what’s the difference between the two?

I hv heard about people saying tennis player A being seed 2 but rank 1. How are these (seed and rank) parameters related to eachother ?

I’m just curious about what the Williams sisters have been ranked in doubles, through the years. I can’t seem to find the information anwhere.

How does the tennis world ranking points get destributed and do they carry over becasue i have knoitced that roger federer has a substantial amount of points compared to everybody else, and how many points are awarded for a mathc and are there any factors in the match that change how points are awarded?
